Happy Halloween!

Trick or treat!

I still love Halloween! Costumes, candy, crisp cool air - it's just a fun time!  This year the fun started at work with our annual pumpkin contest.  We have a mystery grab bag item that we have to incorporate into our pumpkin and a theme.  So this year our theme was 'At the Zoo' and our mystery item was chip clips.  Meet Chilly -

Friday night Kari and I channeled our inner Olsen Twin and went as MK and Ashley - we met up with several friends from flag football

Saturday morning a group of girlfriends and I ran in the 2nd Annual Alger Heights Halloween 5k; we were OPI Nailpolish - mani/pedis anyone!?

I'm Not Really a Waitress, No Spain No Gain, Lilac My Color?, Diva of Geneva, Pink Flamenco, Miami Beet

Saturday evening brought Trunk or Treat at church - HUGE success! We estimated we had 400+ people! :)  Lots of costumes too -

It was a great weekend, I went to a bonfire too, and smell like it still!  Linds and Marv were in town for a wedding so I spent some time with them.  Now on to the week...It's the last week for Flag Football - 8 weeks sure flew by!  And it's election day!  Get out the vote!

Happy Week Friends!

O - hio

I took a trip to see some friends and their new baby over the weekend.  Conveniently they live right near the alma mater, so I got to see some friends there too.  It was nice to be away and Baby Carson is a doll! :)

This was on my drive through the Ohio countryside - really beautiful
God's mercies are new every morning!
Awake time, so there will be better sleep time at night!
The little man
 Matt and his little guy
Ready to hit the pumpkin patches!
How do you get shoes on a 3 week old?  Just kinda jam 'em on!
shoe time out - I can relate!
 Young's at 3 in the afternoon...OK!
Dana the wondermom!
On the way down I saw my old RD, Susan West, in CU I saw several profs, staff, my tennis coaches, and ate at the Hive - just like old times!  On the way home I was able to go to church with the Warrens at their new church and spend the afternoon with them.

Happy Wednesday - what's everyone being for Halloween?

Google needs to come back

So it's official, I no longer drive the Red Escort.  It makes me a little sad to even type that - she was a good friend!  It was a long time coming, but last weekend I found a new friend who I intend to keep for a long while! :)  Jury's out on the new name, suggestions are welcome.  So far I've been leaning toward The Blue Lagoon - rolls off the tongue, and I like it.  But I got the new license plate today and turned in my remaining spare key to the Red Fox, so the deed is done.  Out with the '99 Ford Escort and in with the '06 Malibu Maxx!

RIP Red Fox

Click here to see why Google needs to come back to the neighborhood - they're outdated now!

Have a good week friends, and leave name suggestions please!

I'm not dead yet!

Again I apologize for being sparatic at best - but honestly, nothing that exciting has gone down!

I did get a new car - a tribute to the Red Fox to come and an intro to the new friend.  I am taking name suggestions for her, so I'll tell you she's blue.

I'm heading out to Cedarville this weekend, I'm really looking forward to that.  Going to see Matt and Dana Anderkin and new baby Carson!  I'll be seeing my old RD on the way down and my former pastor on the way home with a few other familiar faces mixed in along the way!

I hope everyone's having a good week - mine's busy as always.  Two more weeks of Flag Football - I scored a touchdown this week!  Holla!

Weekend Update

This weekend was a busy one.  It started with Friday night Football at the Caledonia Homecoming game, then Saturday I went to Darcy's baby shower and Harvest Hooooopla!

My friend Laurie has two sons that play for Caledonia.  So when Kari wanted to do something low key the Friday before her big marathon I suggested high school football!
Me, Laurie and Jade

Go Cal!  Beat those Cougars! :)

The Baby shower was at Mangiamos - classy!  Darcy looks great and she got some very nice gifts, cant wait to meet the new baby in January! :)

I forgot to take pictures at Hoopla but it was a great time!  I didnt get to make pies this year because of the shower, but they made 20 pies!  Then we went to Geysbeeks for dinner. SO good!  Thank goodness all those new brides got crockpots! :)

And mega Props to my Bogo for running the Chicago Marathon today!  You go girl! :)

Keep on truckin' Kar! ;)
I hope everyone had a great weekend - it's off the the races for another week!

Culinary Prowess

Oh yes, that's right, I'm flexing my culinary skills tonight!  Ok, Caramel Corn hardly counts as cooking, but I used a candy thermometer for crying out loud!  :)  Caramel Corn has been popping up all over lately, so I decided to try my hand at it.  Thanks to Paula Dean for the recipe; what a gal!

It all started with the kernels and a little pop pop pop!

Melt together brown sugar, butter, salt, and corn syrup and get deliciousness!

After it boiled for 5 minutes, I added the baking soda - nice thermometer huh?!

A little shake, shake, shake in a brown bag to coat

 Pour into a roasting pan

And Pop it in the oven!

A little assistant or Supervisor really helped me tonight along with a refreshment - ahhh!

The popcorn will be making its way to a potluck, grandma's house and Caledonia Football!
I'm sure it'll taste good cause it was made with:

Have a great weekend friends!

Recap

Ok so the blog has clearly gone by the wayside since fall started up!  I apologize to all of you who became dependent during the summer months of extra time! :)  Here's a photo recap:

Flag Football!  Go Johnny Rogers Experience! (or the bright green team)

Bogo!

Art Prize!  I've only been down there once officially, but I've seen several other pieces in my day to day life in and around downtown.  It is SO cool!

And I have no photos, but Bible Study has been AMAZING, it's a boost to my Tuesdays for sure and my whole week really.  Youff Group is rockin out too!

This week was a new beginning, not only is it the first full week of October, but I heard the sound this week.  The sound of my wipers going over ICE!  AUGH!  Scraping my car every morning has officially started - thank goodness for the remote car starter I got last year!

And last but not least, I've decided I dont 'work' anymore.  Nope.  I 'work it.' ;)  It's a whole new outlook!

Rock out Friends!
