So my friends and family can be up on life here in GR

Isnt She Lucky?!

Please sing that title to the tune of Isnt She Lovely then you'll really have a better idea of the sentiment of this post :)

I made these tasty delights for dinner guests we had last night, good friends and great company! Then I brought a few to work too. I once had a very wise friend tell me that treats are the key to friend making at work, so wise.

I just love when a new recipe coincides nicely with baked good necessity! So Lucky!

Frozen

I'm either Elsa or Anna, and obviously Peter is Kristoff (dashingly handsome, witty, helpful, etc.) but really, when the temps drop, so does everything we dont have to do. We mostly come and go and wear sherpa lined slippers when we get there.
However, this weekend it was warm, 21 degrees, so we ventured out! I didnt even wear a coat to the store, which means we've reached the part of winter when we really have turned to polar bears. :)

Friday night was a game night with friends. I made what should have been a lovely and delicious bundt cake. It chose to just be lovely. Cant win 'em all I suppose.

Willing participants and taste testers.

There's a hole in my cake.

Saturday I had breakfast with my dear friend Anna, and then we both went and helped another friend ice and sprinkle 350 princess crowns. Too fun!

Sunday was our week for preschool chapel. My faithful readers know that I really have come a long way when I say: it is fun! We really enjoy it. Peter's a total kid whisperer, as you can see.

They just love him - duh!

There was also dinner with grandma, a trip the grocery store, and fun Sunday fellowship with friends, it was a BIG weekend! This morning the temp was back to -11, so I'm back to the sherpas.

My funny Valentine!

Over Valentine's weekend we felt the temps and wind in Grand Rapids weren't going to be quite enough to satisfy our cold toe desires, so to ensure the wind would whip and howl sufficiently, we went to Boyne :)
The good news about Boyne is that while the temps are cold the hearts are warm, and the smiles big!

Friday night Frozen sing-a-long and 'nuggles' before bed; old aunties just love this kind of thing!

After the little man went to bed, the rest in the house stayed up for games of all sorts :)

Breakfast of champions

Mos loves to hang out with his dudes, and especially loves his Uncle Peter! I often get called Uncle Peter...

My other Valentine gave me a very sweet kitty card, chocolates, and a lovely necklace. Well done!
He was also quite pleased that our Valentine's dinner of McDonald's on the way home cost him less than $15. The romance is overwhelming, I dont know how I stand it! :)

Thirty, flirty, and fabulous!

Well, I'm one of those things anyway... :)

I had a lovely birthday weekend filled with family and friends.  Friday kicked things off with lunch with work girlfriends from yesteryear, then Kari and I had a chance to visit new baby Anna and her family, nothing like baby snugs for a present! That evening we had dinner with Peter's family and cake and ice cream with my birthday buddy Uncle Bob. We also watched some home videos, which ironically included my 3 year old birthday party! too funny!

He's so kind in accepting pink on our joint cake

Saturday morning started early with breakfast at the homestead with Marvin, Linds, Mos and mom and dad.  Presents and cards were everywhere, too fun!  Linds and I spent a good part of the day together shopping, manicuring, and lunching! Perfect!  In the evening Handsome Pete (as he has requested to be known) arranged a birthday party with friends, and it was SO fun! Best gift possible!

My knight in shining party planning!

Everyone came back to our house for cake and ice cream, they very graciously sang to me too.

I also received numerous calls, texts, cards, and facebook notes that are so kind and put a smile on my face!
Thank you to all who helped me celebrate!

Friends are Gems!

I've been reminded again lately just how fantastic my friends are! And I'm so thankful.

Thursday Melissa came to town with Aaron, Ethan, and her sister Shanna. We had lunch and spent the afternoon at the Meijer Gardens!

Friday we had dinner with Garolyn, aka my former roommate and her bf. We tried Flatlanders, which was excellent and fun! Then I headed to Ladies Game Night at church - too fun, like really way-too-much-fun-I-need-a-nap-on-Saturday too fun!

Saturday was Gram's party, I cant really say enough about how much she loved it.

Sunday several of us pulled together a Happy Super Bowl Birthday party for Ms. Kerry. She loved it and so did I! As I think all in attendance did :)

Monday after Bible study, I met with friend who is working, launching a new business, finding her way in adult life, and doing it all while seeking God and obeying him - I am SO proud! and old... :)

Tuesday I came home to a birthday surprise on my porch from another thoughtful friend. She tried to be sneaky, but her handwriting just doesnt lie! ;)

Moments like these have been diamonds in the rough, and for that I'm so grateful!

Grandma's Big Day

It's not every day that you turn 90, nor that you turn 90 and can get out and about for a birthday party, nor that you turn 90, can get out for a birthday party, and have 30 of your favorite people there!
But that all happened for Grams last Saturday, and it was fab!

Pastor Dave and Brenda were here to pass out hugs and celebrate with her.

Marvin and Lindsay made it in for the occasion.

Her two sisters were there, and two brothers too.

Chatting with her nieces whom she adores.

Celebrating with her sons and their wives

And of course we were there too - wouldnt miss it!

Happy Birthday Party Gram!
