So my friends and family can be up on life here in GR

'But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.'

This, that, and a cute cat

We've been hopping and bopping through life lately. Working on house projects, attending bridal showers like it's a weekend job, staying busy at church, and watching MSU triumph (happy husband, happier life, dont judge me.)

Here's this: We had preschool chapel again, Peter's just got them eating out of his flannelgraph hand.

Frosty Boy has reopened and is open for the season! And that's that.

And now, the cute cat. Nermal.

So there you have it. Lives of the rich and famous. :)

Something's Fishy

That something was last Friday's fish fry birthday party! It's become an annual affair and man is it tasty!

People dressed up and there were games (including MSU's victory!)

A party for all ages!

And most importantly there was cake! Really good cake.

Fun fish frenzy! Until next year!

Spring Shower

Today kicked off a spring full of wedding festivities for me, and it was a lovely start!

A delicious spread of spring treats

 Audree taking it all in

Sheri gave an encouraging devotion about watering our marriages to help them bloom

So many thoughtful gifts

Great decor if you ask me :)

A host of lovely hostesses

Church families are wonderful gifts from God, fun to see Audree welcomed with open arms!

Triumphs with food

I try to be adventurous, mix things up, and try new things with food. Great when it's great, but can really land us some bombs too! Whoops!
Not so much this week :)

This week's triumphs came in the form of Pressure Cooking and Carrot Cake!

I can really see why people are freaked out by pressure cooking, lots of noise, steam, clattering, etc. Madge the fearless was nowhere to be seen, fraidycat. But it resulted in some very tasty and faster risotto - yum!
And the cake, oh the cake! Peter raved, Jo raved, the neighbor girls raved, the girls at work raved.
I give it an all-around thumbs up.

I put my foot down

On my sewing machine pedal that is! And on ugly curtains I've disliked for 3.5 years.

I moved in to my house 3.5 years ago, disliked the curtains then.
I found fabric I liked and proceeded to store it in my basement for a solid 2.5 years.
Last Saturday I got a wild Spring hair and decided I was going to sew. This resulted in two visits to the fabric store and one to the sewing machine shop
Sewing commenced on Tuesday continuing to Thursday and Saturday.

Voila!

Such a good helper.

Several times I nearly threw in the towel on sewing a straight line, (something my mother told me she was accomplishing in Jr. High), but I didnt, and I'm so glad :)

Double Down Fish Fry

It's Lent. It's time to eat fish
So we did!
Teaming up with your friends and their new twins is a great way to go about things too, really enhances the flavor.

This week was brought to us by St. Al's. It's, in my opinion, the best.

Petey and I got to cuddle the little guys, they're so sweet, and really getting cute!

Safe swimming until we meet again!

Podcastin' Fool

In the mid winter doldrums, I've found a bright spot, yay!!
Marv & Linds recommended NPR's Serial series to Peter and me. It was so interesting, I blew through the 12 week series in 4 days, only lengthened because I saved the last episode for a day!

Thus began my dive into podcasting! And I'm not looking back because I'm learning so much!

A few of my favorites:
Serial (the original love)
America's Test Kitchen
NPR
Cedarville Chapel
Stuff You Should Know
The Chalene Show

Today I listened to someone commenting on manners, and they gave a great definition:
'Manners are simply giving respect to the existence of others.'
I just loved that. So wise.

A whole lotta regular

And I like it! Over the weekend we had a lovely time with a number of people, it was all pretty regular, and it was GREAT!

So regular that I didnt take photos, except a few of Madge, and since people in my real life have actually commented to me that they'd like a photo or two of her on here, I'm happy to oblige.

Friday night was dinner with Garrolyn, Saturday was busy beaver day on Kelsey. Christmas Winter trees came down, serious cleaning, errands, organization, etc. All punctuated with a nice visit from Peter's parents. We went to the Meijer Gardens (not busy, yes!) and had a delicious lunch!

Such a helpful little girl :)

Let me put it this way: we capped off Saturday by watching A River Runs Through It, and it was about the most fitting thing I've done all year :)
