So my friends and family can be up on life here in GR

E = MC Squared

That's what I thought when I wrote out Ethan Michael's initials on his little welcome-to-the-planet card.
EMC
Melissa had her baby, so Peter and I gave them a week, and then we pounced. Must snuzz the new baby! and it was a delight! He tucked his little legs up, squeaked, and zonked out, just like every little newborn should when they meet their Auntie and Uncle! :)

Melissa and Aaron have been such sweet friends, if they're even half as good as parents they'll be just fine :)

Fire it up!

We needed to burn off a lot of little twigs and ickity yard stuff, so we did. We also invited some friends to join in. And it was all done with s'mores on hand so that we stay within the laws of good ol' GR. :)

Selfie is a mustie

The girls were a bit zonked from the day's activities

The adult boys were in fine form...as usual.

S'more off. Who can toast the most excellent mallow???

Learn to use an axe. Perfect summertime boy stuff.

First fire of the season, a bit late, but a success!

The aftermath of War

I never meant for Senor Squirrel or any of his fleabag friends to perish. And, mind you, he was nowhere near the feeder, things certainly could not have been connected any way. If you havent read lately, scroll down two posts, or click here
I almost feel bad.

I have to say, he does look like he went in grand, almost Supermanish style!

Happy Wedding Meghan and Matt

Congratulations to Peter's cousin Matt and his lovely bride Meghan! We enjoyed our time celebrating with them, and catching up with other family too! Plus, they had fantastic cake and local doughnuts that I may have indulged heavily in. So, basically, all my wedding-going dreams came true :)

Plus, this was the first time I havent had to rise to my feet and hit the dance floor when the dj played 'All the Single Ladies'...not that I wouldnt have liked the beautiful hydrangea bouquet that was tossed!

The best part about working from home

No, not my fuzzy co-workers, nor being able to throw a load of laundry in, not even baking cookies on lunch. No. It's being able to effectively wage war. War on squirrels.

She stayed with me all day, even attempting to nap on a folding chair.

The war is on. I'll fill the feeder, the one I'm trying to use to attract beautiful cardinals and chickadees with, leave for work and when I come home it's been pillaged! He's even knocked off the tray on the bottom.  ugh. But today I was home.

First, I noticed him on the feeder, so I sprayed the pole with Pam! Now when he tries to use it he swirls down it like a fireman on his fire pole. Next, he got brave and started leaping, but I saw that too, so I moved the pole. The best part? I managed to catch it all on video. Blingo!

Game on Senor Squirrel. Tell your buddies too.

Happy Birthday Petey!

Birthday fun has lasted for a full week around here, and why not? milk it!

First a party on Kelsey complete with a banner and the debut of the 'special day' plate

Bunny ears are always funny :)

Oh look, another set of every day dishes! Just kidding, pocket hoses!

Huh? what'd ya get? Sunset cruise!

Party in South Haven on the day. The gift fairy was spot on this year - cleats and softball pants!

Dad T got a turn in Halee's beauty shop for his birthday

 Kitty ears - pay back!

A car bike rack! Who wants to go?!

Birthday boys share the cake and the blowout

And then the big evening cruise on the 'pirate ship'. It was a perfect night, not too hot or cold, all we really needed was a light jacket. ;)

Wednesday we had a 'surprise' dinner with Jake and Jenn at Brewery Vivant. Great food! and friends!

Thursday was dinner and ice cream with Grandparents T. We got the tour of Schoolcraft! And it was Peter's first ever dipped cone, I'd say after 35 years it's time to end the drought. She wanted to go through the drive-thru again, this is just part of why we get along so well ;)

Happy Birthday lovie! Cheers to at least 35 more!

Unaccompanied Minors

We've been visited recently by our nieces and nephews.  First Mos, then Grace, Rita and Sam came to Michigan for 10 days! Grace went to camp, so we spent a lot of time hanging out with the other two. We even had Halee, the cousin-in-law, come too!

Moses the kid

Rita...I think.

Sam had to set his pistol aside so he could play some cards with his uncle. Rita diligently cleaned teeth this week!

Stages of Sam's conversation: Talk (a lot), check with Grandma, get back with you.

Baseball buddies. It's been a hard transition getting used to Uncle Peter, I'm sure you can tell...

Grandpa sprung for Whippy Dip - thanks!

We had a Halee and Rita sleepover at Kamp Kelsey, they watched a movie and I had to go upstairs twice to tell them to quiet down. They were attempting to 'talk' themselves to sleep, I suggested trying laying quietly with their eyes closed...

The next morning we all went to the Choo Choo Grill for breakfast. Fun! Peter and I have been wanting to go for a long time. It was the talk of the day, but fyi: no eggs benedict.

We had to tag along to court with Peter, so they rainbow loomed in the back seat on the way while singing Disney. They loved going to court, SO much to see! And even got Jr. Sheriff stickers, bonus!

Blueberry picking was on Rita's bucket list and fresh from the bush is the only way Halee likes them, so off we went!

A little bit of larceny...

Peter guessed she wouldnt make it out of South Haven, she did make it that long, but not too much more than that...I'd say it was a good day :)

Root beer floats were on the menu probably 3 times during the week but kept getting back burnered, FINALLY.

Turns out, unaccompanied minors cant fly out after a certain time at night, and the flight got delayed. So back they came! and it's a good thing, because apparently Uncle Peter needed knee surgery.

It was a great week, full of hilarity and stories we will not soon forget :)
Come back soon!
