Red Dessert

Our Ladies Spring Dessert was the other day and the color theme was red, white, and black.  I was asked to bring some cookies to share. So...

I had so much fun getting to know some new friends, hearing from and old friend and catching up with a lifelong friend.  What a blessing to have them all in my life!

Over the weekend it was purse-palooza for me and some friends!  We loaded up and rolled out at 6:30ish heading to the great land of Ft. Wayne, IN in search of the perfect pattern!  Dutch penny pinchers must have spread, or Midwestern women are just nuts about Vera Bradley because that arena was crawling!

Quick Trip

The other weekend to celebrate Mom's bday, Lindsay planned a little trip to Chicago!  It was a good time full of chatting, riding the train, eating, shopping, eating, chatting, and browsing!

Those were my words after this occurred.  The neighbors probably think I'm dragging them down right now because my garage door is looking a little sad.  Ok, very sad.  Buuuuuuut not for too much longer!!  and the silver lining?  my car was not inside!  whew!

Lindsay: do not show this to your students, they'll never come to GR again!  Ghettofabulous!

2nd Annual Fish Fry

Who doesnt love a good fish fry?  I mean, other than my dad?  Well it was mom's bday and again, that's where she wanted to go.  So there we were at Blessed Sacrament, eating ourselves silly on fish and cole slaw!  

Round out the evening with cake, ice cream, and friends - who can resist?!

Verdict?  Blessed was good, but the Walleye and mac and cheese at St. Al's cant be beat!

I went bananas!

Actually I went Dulce de Leche Banana Creme Pie! 

Unfortunately, I failed to get photos of much of the project.  I did however get photos of the 'really? wow!' part.  Which is: if you boil a can of Sweetened Condensed Milk for 2.5 hours it turns into the most delicious caramel sauce!

So back to the pie, (I say it like it's mine, definitely found it on Pinterest):  Graham cracker crust, topped with three sliced bananas, smothered in the afore mentioned caramel sauce, topped with cool whip!, dusted with chocolate shavings.

Because I have no teeth?

No, I have teeth, I just like smoothies.  Which is why I made one last week and put all kinds of fruits, dairy, and yes, even spinach in it.  Spinach turns it all weird colors, (aka brownish), but it's a great way to get my f&v's and be on the run.  And it's good!  I mean, mostly banana but still good. :)

Mom says they remind her of working in the nursing home...whatever, it was tasty and filling.
