Q and A

Again, I’ve had quite a few Q’s in the comments of my blogs, love it keep them coming!  Here are the A’s and some responses as well -

Andrea and Melissa asked, ’What is Friend Making Monday?’ – Well girls, it’s a blogging community way of making new friendsAmber has been hosting for a while now, so on Mondays go to her blog, see what the question is, add your link, and then blog your responses on your blog.  When you’re on her blog you’ll see tons of links to other blogs, hence you make new friends.  Good question!

Nocona asked, ‘Are you a youth minister?’ Nope, a youth leader for our Junior High and High School Crazies! :)

Lindsay commented that, ‘There are no Good Fish Stories in the DR’ my response to that is: DR couldnt handle Good Fish Stories and we couldnt handle them!  Can you even imagine!?  haha  You’re hilarious though, and I laughed when I saw it!

Kari asked if, ‘I got my craft on’ when I highlighted Jenn’s new sweater.  That’s a big no, unfortunately.  I just cant find the time, I’m barely keeping up with the bloggeroo!

Andrea was wondering, ‘The cost of the original sweater, (of course you are)’.  I dont know, it was an Ann Taylor that I think she’d had for a while, so cheapy cheap.  Andrea also wondered, ‘If Jenn follows Tots?’ Turns out she does, I didnt realize it beforehand though.

Melissa wonders, ‘How’s life in GR land?’ Great question since that is the point of this blog!  Life here is good, I’m enjoying what I’m involved in right now at church, work is clicking along, it’s been a circus act with Cupid floating through the air – call me, my birthday was great lots of fun activities and people, Pink Day was wonderful – I snuggled with Hoogendyk mice while watching the Olympics, and I received the most darling card from Hoogendyk IV asking me to be his Valentine in the cutest little 5 year old handwriting ever! :)

That’s my story here’s some photos from the Olympic Party over the weekend!

25 – and loving it!

This past Sunday was my 25th birthday – the whole weekend was great!  It was like a normal low key weekend, but with all of my favorite activities and people mixed in! :)

Friday night was Ladies Game Night at church – super fun!  We had over 25 women there!  Thanks for coming out everyone!

Saturday I had an international dinner at home with Marv and Linds over Skype and grandma and grandpa came too!  The candles on the cake were really cool, they glowed in the color of the wax!

That same night my friends threw me and another friend Emily, (her birthday was the 8th, mine the 7th), a Classy Black and White Birthday Party!  It was really fun!

Sunday was my actual birthday and the same day as the Super Bowl!  I had chinese at lunch, a delicious nap in the afternoon and fun at the Supa Dupa Bowl Party at night!  I even had a cake made for me! :)  I love cake!

Thanks to everyone who made it such a special 25th birthday!  I was overwhelmed by how blessed I am with friends and family!

This weekend is almost as good because the Olympics start and it’s Pink Day! Two great things in one weekend! :)

Happy Friday All!

FMM - Old Sweater New Sweater

friend makin monday for post

For Friend Making Monday I’m diverting from what Amber and friends are talking about, which is the Super Bowl, and I’m going to introduce you to my friend (and stand in sister) Jennifer. I’ve known her my whole life, idolized her fantastic bangs in the 90’s and have learned so much from her about becoming a gracious woman of God, (still learning)!

Jennifer is so crafty and boldly made the snip to refashion a sweater last week! Here’s what she did -

She started with a turtleneck pullover sweater – projects 001

Then she cute straight down the middle and cut the turtleneck off about 3/4” from the collar.projects 002

She used 1 1/2” ribbon. She ironed it in half, pinned and sewed over each side of the front opening.projects 005

Next she sewed the collar over to make a finished edge.

projects 004

At this point you have two options: 1 - sew buttons and button holes on either side of the opening. Or if you arent able to get to the fabric store with your two small children 2 – affix a pretty pin or brooch to pull the two sides together. TADAAAAAA!

She’s also been busy making little pins to doll up an spring outfit!

Thanks Jenn for paving the way! Now I’ll know who to turn to when my refashion goes south!

If anyone else has been working on anything and needs a platform for the world, send me an email! I’d love to showcase your ideas!

Happy Monday! Hope it was a great start to your week! :)

Heart Cookie Recipe

There are several ways to make the Half Hearted Cookies. I'd say before anything else you have to be making them with either love in your heart, or shear bliss about how much people are going to love them. Without one or both of those, they are nothing more than flour, sugar, butter and chocolate - which isnt all bad, but is made better with one of the afore mentioned items.

In my case I drove to my nearest GFS Marketplace (Happened to be Alpine in this case), purchased the delish Heart Shaped Cookie Dough from the coffin freezer, took them home, baked them from frozen, let them cool, melted chocolate chips, dipped one front half of each cookie in chocolate, used a knife to scrape off excess on the back and let them harden! Tadaaa!

But for real, any sugar cookie recipe will do, and to make them extra shiny, Becca added a little Crisco to the chocolate, not much though.

Birthday Festivities have been great this weekend, thanks to everyone who contributed! - pictures to follow!

Half Hearted

So it’s my birthday weekend, and things have been anything but half hearted around here!  Well, except the cookies I made!  Friday morning I came into work and was SO surprised that my team not only remembered it was my birthday, but decorated and had a card and treats for me!  So sweet!  Friday night was ladies game night, super fun!  I’m glad everyone came out, some girls stayed until 1:30 am! I think they needed a break!  Tonight I have dinner with the fam, and a classy black and white party to attend. Tomorrow is church, more ‘family’ dinner and then a Supa Dupa Bowl Party

But the whole point of this is my half hearted cookies are touring with me this weekend, and they are oh so cute!  Bec and I had a great time making them Thursday night, yumo!

Next week I’ll be featuring Jenn and her sweater refashion, she’s wearing it today and I saw pictures – darling!

What's inspiring you lately?

When I read the question this week I though, eh blah skip this week, but as I got to thinking, there are quite a few things, like -

The River Bank Run : the only reason I got out of bed at 5:35 this morning

The pretty Fearless book cover : it's making me want to hop right in!

Women's Bible study : I'm so encouraged every time I go

My girlfriends : Always there for me, ready to listen

My purple dress : I cant wait to wear it! :)

Spring time : Hope springs eternal!

My not-so-broken car : what a relief!

Youth Ministry : makes me strive

My job : feel like I'm hitting my stride

Family : Real, Fake, Church - love them all!

My Blessed Redeemer : No Guilt In Life; No Fear In Death!

What about you?
